Binfluencer is an indie app that helps you check bin collection dates and get reminders. I’m not a company—just a solo developer—so this is a plain-English overview of what data the app uses and why.
1. Who runs this
Binfluencer is built and run by me (Josh). For privacy or data requests, email josh@bin-fluencer.com.
2. What data the app uses
To provide collection dates and reminders, the app uses:
- Address lookups: When you search by postcode, the app looks up addresses (and UPRN – property ID) via a third-party provider. That’s used to fetch your council’s bin schedule and to let you set reminders for your property.
- Reminder subscriptions: If you turn on bin-day reminders, I store the council, property ID (UPRN), the address label you chose, and your reminder time. That’s what I need to send you a push the day before your collections.
- Subscriptions: If you use in-app purchases, my payment provider (RevenueCat) tells me your subscription status so the app can unlock features. I may store an app user ID and that status.
- Push notifications: The app uses Firebase Cloud Messaging. A device/push token may be sent to my servers so I can deliver your reminders.
I don’t sell your data. It’s only used to run the app and send the reminders you asked for.
3. Caching
To keep the app fast and avoid hammering council sites, I cache postcode lookups (up to 30 days) and collection schedules (up to 24 hours). Caches include postcodes, addresses, UPRNs, and collection dates. They drop off automatically when they expire.
4. Third parties
To provide the app, some data is handled by:
- Your local council: Bin collection dates come from your council’s systems when the app looks up your postcode or property. Their own privacy practices apply to that.
- An address lookup service: Used to turn your postcode into a list of addresses and property IDs (UPRNs).
- App security and push notification services: So the app can verify itself and send you reminders.
- A payment/subscription provider: If you use in-app purchases, they process that; payment data is covered by their terms.
- Hosting and infrastructure: The app’s API and databases run on a third-party platform (servers, storage, etc.).
5. Your choices
- Reminders: Use the unsubscribe option in the app to stop bin-day notifications. I’ll stop using your subscription data for that.
- Access or deletion: Email josh@bin-fluencer.com if you want to see what I hold or want it deleted. I’m happy to sort it.
6. How long I keep data
Reminder data stays until you unsubscribe or ask me to remove it. Caches expire as above. I may keep basic payment/subscription records for my own records.
7. Changes
I may update this page from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when I do. Using the app after that means you’re good with the updated version.
